Artificially sweetened diet drinks are just as bad for your health as their full sugar versions according to the latest research from Imperial College London.
The experts believe that artificially sweetened drinks could cause you to over eat by stimulating your sweet tooth, making foods such as cakes and biscuits harder to resist. This added to their low calorie content (which makes us think we’ve made a healthier choice) leads us to eat more calories than we actually need to.
Cutting out fizzy drinks could make it easier for you to lose weight and tackle your sugar cravings. If you miss the fizz try sparkling mineral water with a squeeze of lemon or some cucumber and mint instead.
