The first Christmas after a loss is always tricky, and finding an appropriate card for a bereaved friend or relative can be a challenge. You might not want to with them a 'Merry Christmas' or a 'Happy New Year' given the circumstances.
Instead, consider one of these clever cards from thortful, which were designed by 12-year-old Joshua Billington as part of a competition with Grief Encounter. Joshua learnt first-hand about the work of the charity when he lost his father Matt to a rare form of non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma last year.
Joshua based his designs on what he thought about at Christmas. He won over the judge’s hearts with an illustration of his whippet, Pinto, he went on to design a further three dog-themed cards, creating the 2016 Christmas collection.
The wording inside the cards includes:
- Thinking of you this Christmas
- Wishing you a peaceful Christmas
- Peace & Love at Christmas
- with love at Christmas
This year, 10 per cet of the profits from all thortful cards sold between now and Christmas, plus £1 from each of Joshua's cards will be donated to Grief Encounter who provide on-going support for children following the death of a loved one.
thortful cards are available to purchase at thortful.com for £2.99 (+p&p)
