What do these things have in common? Shoulder pads; sequins; slaps to the face and melodrama galore.
Of course, it’s 1980s classic soap opera, Dynasty. If, like us, you were hooked to the ridiculous scenarios, outrageous costumes and the total glamour of its stars including the glorious Joan Collins, you’ll be pleased to know that the guilty-pleasure drama is back.
There’s a brand-new series of Dynasty now available on Netflix, and it has all the ingredients that made its predecessor great (except, alas, Ms Collins herself). Again, it follows a badly behaved family and is filled with over the top storylines, particularly featuring strong women.
The main difference, aside from a new cast, is that it’s set in 2017 in Atlanta, instead of Denver where it was originally set.
It has an all new cast, including Grant Show as Blake Carrington, Nathalie Kelley as Cristal Flores Carrington (great name!), Elizabeth Gillies as Fallon and James Mackay as Steven.

It launched in October and has been very popular – give it a go if you have a Netflix subscription.
