Poor Elton John is having a terrible few months. First he lost his mother, Sheila, in December, just months after the pair had rekindled their relationship after a feud, and now another key member of his family has passed away.
Elton revealed that his beloved dog Arthur sadly died at the age of 14. He broke the news during a show in Las Vegas last Friday, reportedly dedicating the song Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me to the cocker spaniel.
Elton, 70, was given Arthur as a 56th birthday present, and has previously referred to the pooch as his 'best friend'. In fact, the faithful hound was even his best man during his wedding to David Furnish in 2014!
While it's sad that Arthur has passed away, it's clear the pooch had an incredibly A-List life. He was often Elton's 'date' at Michelin-starred restaurants and is even a registered recording artist, with a credit on 2006 album The Captain and the Kid for 'playing the woof-bells'.
Arthur leaves behind spaniel Marilyn, after Elton staged a doggy wedding for them, and a puppy, Isabella.
No doubt - as with all beloved pets - Arthur will leave a big hole in his owner's life.
