We know it can be tricky when families split up, and not all in laws are very welcoming. But we’re shocked by suggestions of the Queen’s frosty welcome to the Duchess of Cornwall into the Royal family…
According to a new biography by British journalist Tim Bower, Queen Elizabeth didn’t hold back when it came to her opinions on Prince Charles’s affair with Camilla Parker Bowles back in the 90s.
Bower claims that Charles confronted his mother about welcoming Camilla into the family during the summer following Diana’s death in 1997. According to the author, the Queen had apparently drunk “several martini’s and to Charles’s surprise she replied forcefully: She would not condone his adultery, nor forgive Camilla for not leaving Charles alone to allow his marriage to recover.”
Bowers book, Rebel Prince: The Power and Passion and Defiance of Prince Charles, also claims that the Queen even called Camilla “that wicked woman,” and said, “I want nothing to do with her.”
We’re not sure how rocky the relationship between the Queen and Camilla is, but we do know the two share a passionate love for horses and have been seen happily chatting with one another on many occasions since Charles and Camilla wed back in 2005.
