As much as we'd love to be able to afford high-end fragrances every time they run low, it's not always possible. And if you've not recently been gifted your favourite perfume gift set, you might be wondering if there are any affordable fragrance options to keep you smelling sweet. That's where our favourite Zara perfume dupes come in.

In this economy, our purse strings are being pulled left, right and centre and we're choosing to focus our attention on our 'needs' rather than our 'wants'. Fortunately, retailers like Zara have beautiful perfumes for women that just happen to be fantastic dupes for our favourite designer perfumes.

What is a perfume dupe?

A perfume dupe is a copy or match to another perfume. Often, brands will create a similar fragrance to those of high-end designer scents deliberately to emulate the smell. These brands offer the fragrance at a much more affordable price point than the designer brands. Many brands also create dupes of designer clothing too, in addition to fragrances.

We personally love having our favourite affordable dupe for everyday wear or taking on holiday. Then we can use the real designer fragrance on special occasions. After all, there's nothing worse than losing a perfume or accidentally smashing a bottle.

Best Zara perfume dupes for women

From Jo Malone to Dior, Yves Saint Laurent to Marc Jacobs, we've shared the best Zara perfumes for women that share near-identical aroma profiles. You can save some money without compromising on your signature scent.

Although these dupes are pretty close in notes and scent, it's important to remember we all smell fragrances slightly differently, especially when they're on the skin.

Bringing the garden to life, this Jo Malone London fragrance is beautifully floral. With top notes of Clementine Flower, heart notes of White Lilac, and base notes of Orriswood. In the heart of the scent you'll also experience a sparkling of Orange Blossom without being too overpowering.

Reviewers added that it smells like sunshine and summer which makes for a really pleasant scent for day events. But one downside that was highlighted by several customers was that it does not last long, even after applying on hydrated skin and even clothes.

This Eau de Parfum was actually created by Jo Malone CBE for Zara, so you know it'll effectively carry across the same notes. The fragrance is complete with those orange blossom petals, paired with neroli and notes of ylang-ylang. It smells lavish and is great for the summer. As Jo Malone rightly said, “A special occasion should always be marked with orange blossom.”

A signature scent suitable for men and women, Baccarat Rouge 540 is both floral and woody. The Eau de Parfum has aerial notes of jasmine and saffron, facets of ambergris, and tones of freshly cut cedar wood. The bottle, and fragrance, are the epitome of sophistication. However, several reviewers mentioned that while it stays on clothes a bit longer, the smell is very faint on the body.

At a fraction of the price, try out Zara’s Red Temptation. It's characterised as more feminine, making it a better dupe for women, with the floral notes being more dominant. Experience facets of saffron, coriander, and bitter orange, combined with the luminosity of jasmine and white flowers, and woody amber base notes.

Packed with energy and sensuality, it's no surprise that YSL Black Opium is a favourite. The black coffee accord is paired with vanilla, enriched by the softness of white flowers and orange blossom, against a base of patchouli and comforting white musk. One reviewer added that this one is in their top 3 all-time perfume choices. “It is sexy, sweet, and simply divine. It adds the perfect finishing touch to your look and it is long lasting as well,” she added.

<strong>Volume: </strong>50ml

If that dark aroma similar to YSL’s Black Opium Eau de Parfum is what you're after, try Zara's Gardenia. With contrasting light notes for a deliciously playful perfume, the gripping fragrance brings the deep and captivating scent of coffee but pairs it with silky white flowers, orange blossom, and the fruitiness of peach and raspberry.

<strong>Volume: </strong>90ml

Elie Saab Girl Of Now is a distinctive gourmand floral perfume inspired by Lebanese delights. The deliciously sweet fragrance opens with roasted pistachio and sparkling pear with a heart of bitter almond and orange blossom, and a base of Tonka bean, almond milk, and patchouli.

One reviewer added, “I feel so happy, calm, and confident when I wear this. It smells amazing, very sweet and sexy and you can smell it on yourself for days. I usually get sick of perfumes but not this - I’ve had like 6 bottles back to back.”

<strong>Volume:</strong> 50ml

For a fraction of the price, Zara's Violet Blossom is just as sweet and seductive. It's made up of refreshing yet delicate notes of magnolia, apple, and Madonna lily with the warmth of vanilla and sweetness of almond. Both of which add comfort and voluptuousness to the scent.

<strong>Volume: </strong>30ml

This gender-neutral scent is the perfect pick for the summer with natural scents inspired by the great outdoors. Enjoy notes of pine needle, sandalwood, and lemon with hints of vanilla and bergamot that travel through the heart of the perfume to deepen the aroma. One reviewer shared, “The fragrance is so soft and subtle yet strong enough to last without being too overpowering.”

<strong>Volume: </strong>50ml

Another fragrance made in collaboration with Jo Malone CBE, this fragrance brings notes of bergamot, spearmint, and musk. Jo perfectly sums up what this perfume evokes: "Soft jazz music plays in the background, a picnic on the lawn, the gentle breeze caresses a vintage tea dress".

<strong>Volume: </strong>90ml

Long lasting, fresh and floral, Daisy Eau So Fresh is designed to be delicate yet playful, just like a daisy. The scent features enticing top notes of raspberry, pear, and grapefruit, deepening into a sensuous heart of wild rose and a musky finish of warm plum and cedarwood. "This is a very pretty floral fragrance that is light and not overwhelming. I'm sensitive to some scents so I was glad it wasn't too strong. It’s perfect for everyday use," said one reviewer.

<strong>Volume: </strong>75ml

Whilst Zara Orchid is inspired by the orchid, it shares the same playful and floral characteristics of Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh. Full of charm, it has fresh floral notes of rose and lily of the valley, fruity notes of peach and apple with a musky background of wood and amber.

<strong>Volume: </strong>90ml

For a warmer, amber floral, try Dolce & Gabbana’s The One. With a personality of a diva but with contrasting sweetness, the top notes of bergamot and mandarin mix with the soulful heart of Madonna lily, lily of the valley, and jasmine. At the base, there are notes of vanilla, amber, and musk. One reviewer mentioned that it is definitely on the sweet side but equally sultry. She also found that it lasts for a long time.

<strong>Volume: </strong><br>30ml

Amber in name and nature, this perfume from Zara shares that strong, sensual, feminine scent with the contrasting notes of Dolce & Gabbana’s The One. The fragrance opens with fruity notes of mandarin orange, cherry, and passion fruit, unveiling a heart of Tiare flower and hyacinth, and finished with a vibrant stream of vanilla, amber, and white musk. However, this product is now only available as part of set along with the scent, Red Vanilla.

<strong>Volume: </strong>90ml

Delicately floral with top notes of essence of mandarin, heart notes of peony, and base notes of white musk, this scent brings the tender floral bouquet to life. French perfumer François Demachy described it as "Like a springtime bouquet with a hint of elegant and light woody notes, Miss Dior keeps its promise of love." One reviewer also added that it is quite fresh and floral-like, making it perfect for day or night.

<strong>Volume: </strong>100ml

This 'bouquet' by a different name captures the light, springtime spirit mirrored in Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet. The fragrance pyramid reveals notes of cherry, peony, and vanilla for a fresh, pleasing, and vibrant scent – simply romantic and irresistible.

This classic perfume from Dior is described by François Demachy as "a flower that does not exist." Crafted from beautiful flowers from all over the world, it features ylang-ylang, Damascus rose, jasmine grandiflorum, Indian tuberose, and Indian sambac jasmine with warm facets of orange blossom. One reviewer added, “Dior is classic, timeless and this scent is light and floral, without being overpowering. I can't recommend it enough."

<strong>Volume: </strong><br>50ml

For a similar scent profile, try Zara Wonder Rose. This eau de toilette from the floral scent family reveals notes of blackcurrant, peony, and, of course, that heart of rose which makes it a suitable dupe to Dior J'adore.
