You’ll no doubt recognise Emerald Fennell as flame-haired Nurse Patsy Mount in Call the Midwife, but we’re going to be seeing even more of the beautiful actress in months to come, as she’s bagged herself a role on ITV’s Victoria!
We’ve discovered everything you need to know about the actress – who is now almost unrecognisable with blonde hair.
Emerald’s TV work
The London-born actress is best known (aside from Call the Midwife) for her role in Channel 4’s sitcom Chickens, and she’s also appeared in Trial and Retribution, New Tricks, Drifters and TV films The Lady Vanishes and Murder on the Home Front.
Emerald’s film work
You might recognise her from Anna Karenina, The Danish Girl, Albert Nobbs or Mr Nice.
Her work as an author
When she’s not acting, Emerald writes books and film scripts. She published Shiverton Hall, a children’s book, in December 2012 and followed it with two sequels in 2014. In 2015 she wrote Monsters – an adult horror book.
Call the Midwife
Emerald played Nurse Patsy Mount for four series, joining in series two. Patsy is a close friend (and roommate) to Nurse Trixie, and although she attracted her fair share of male interest thanks to her gorgeous red hair, it became clear in series four that she was in a relationship with Delia Busby, in a time when it was illegal to be in a same-sex relationship.
Emerald is now set for more small-screen glory, as she takes on the role of Lord Byron’s daughter, Lady Ada Lovelace. We can’t wait to see her in action.
