Number one in name and in nature, the Waitrose No.1 Chocolate Croissant Easter Egg gets our top spot for taste and appearance. Shaped just like the pastry, it's much bigger and thicker than we anticipated, living up to our hopes and dreams!
Although a croissant might not be the first thing that comes to mind for Easter, we’re not complaining, as the chunky blonde chocolate melts in your mouth and is reminiscent of a Caramac bar, although it's much creamier in texture.
It's very similar to the one they released last year, but this time it's been infused with almonds! With flaked almond pieces studding the chocolate shell, it gives a flavoursome crunch (be careful, they may fall off when you open the packet). It's topped with milk chocolate and flaked roasted almonds, which help offset the sweetness and add interest and texture.

Can't decide which egg to go for? Get the best of both worlds with the Waitrose Cracking Pistachio Easter Egg. When you crack open the golden blonde chocolate shell, you uncover a gloriously green pistachio egg.
It is a little on the expensive side, but the high-quality ingredients make this chocolate worth every penny. We loved the combination of flavours, where the crunchy pistachio nibs contrast with the smooth chocolate... It's great for sharing, although it's so good, you'll want to keep it for yourself!

If you're looking for something a bit different this Easter, then this white chocolate and red berry Waitrose flat egg could be for you. The top layer is sprinkled with tangy freeze-dried raspberries and cherries, meaning it complements the sweet berry chocolate and doesn't make it too sickly - we love how pretty it looks!
The best part is the lovely surprise inside the mini hollow egg on the front. We enjoyed cracking it open to reveal the two dusted-pink champagne truffles inside. This is a great choice for someone who isn't a traditional chocolate lover and make a lovely gift.

Best Waitorse mini Easter eggs
Arabella Horspool/Yourswww.waitrose.com
These impossibly cute Waitrose Milk Chocolate Eggs make a lovely addition to Easter baking, especially if you’re decorating nests or cakes for a nostalgic touch. The speckled sugar shell gives them a charming, classic look, along with a nice crunch, and they’re just as enjoyable to snack on straight from the box.
The chocolate itself is smooth and tasty, made with Fairtrade sourced cocoa (mass balance), which is a nice bonus. You do get a generous 200g, but the price does feel a little on the high side for what they are, so while they’re adorable, they might be more of a treat than an everyday buy.

Shaped into a playful lip design, this hollow milk chocolate treat is coated in a glamorous red shimmer that instantly catches the eye. It’s a charming and slightly cheeky gift idea - perfect for Easter or as a sweet surprise for someone special.
Inspired by Lulu Guinness’s iconic lip motif, the chocolate itself is made from rich single-origin cocoa, giving it a smooth, satisfying taste to match its standout appearance. Even better, the cocoa is Fairtrade sourced (mass balance), so it’s a treat you can feel good about enjoying.
One thing to note, though - the red shimmer coating can transfer onto your fingers quite easily, so it’s worth handling with care as it may leave marks on surfaces or furniture.

Best Waitrose caramelised biscuit Easter egg

Alongside pistachio, a caramelised biscuit is definitely one of this year's big trends (though, let’s be honest, the hype has never really stopped) - and we’re here for it! This No.1 Blonde Chocolate & Biscuit Flat Easter Egg from Waitrose is the perfect example.
We found this super-sweet concoction absolutely irresistible. It's packed full of caramelised biscuit crumbs (think Biscoff) and topped with plenty of sugar pieces, more biscuits, fleur de sel and half of a hollow chocolate egg. It's definitely on the sweeter side, making it a perfect treat for chocolate lovers, but the salt helps balance it out - though we did find there was a lot of it!

What is the best Waitrose Easter egg?
The clear winner of our Waitrose Easter egg taste-test has to be The No.1 Almond Croissant! We can't get enough of the luxuriously creamy caramelised white chocolate, with crunchy almonds and the little pieces of feuilletine wafer. It's got a lovely sweetness to it, as you'd expect, plus a delightful texture with every bite.
But it's impossible to choose just one winner! The Cracking Pistachio Easter Egg - last year’s most talked-about Waitrose Easter egg - is back and better than ever! This grown-up option has a shell we devoured, made from hollow white chocolate with caramelised sugar, giving it a sweet and crunchy feel. Inside, you’ll find a luxurious pistachio-flavoured egg, which we are obsessed with, as this year, it’s even more indulgent, as more pistachio nibs have been added, creating the perfect balance of creamy, velvety chocolate and nutty crunch. No wonder it went viral on TikTok!
