Pizza oven types

Pizza ovens come in a few different types:

Portable pizza ovens: Usually gas or wood-fired, these pizza ovens are very popular.

Barbecue-top pizza ovens: A cheaper alternative, these are made up of a simple metal box with a pizza stone inside. They sit on top of your barbecue and are heated via the grill.

Freestanding pizza ovens: Typically the most expensive choice, if you really love your pizza, you may want to invest in one of these which will have a permanent place in your garden.

Things to think about when buying an outdoor pizza oven

The price: If you don't want to spend much, a barbecue-top pizza oven is your go-to. At the other end of the spectrum, a freestanding pizza oven is one for serious pizza enthusiasts. A portable pizza oven tends to sit somewhere in the middle.

The weight and size: If you think you'll be moving your pizza oven around, whether it's to take to friends or simply store in the garage, consider how big it is and how much it weighs.

Fuel: Other than when used over the barbecue, you'll either used gas or wood to fuel your outside pizza oven. Gas ovens are easier to operate compared to wood-fire and easier to clean afterwards but we can't help but love the authenticity of wood fire cooking.

Where to buy an outdoor pizza oven for summer 2022

Amazon always have plenty of options but we'd recommend scouting out the likes of John Lewis, Lakeland and direct with the companies themselves.

It's also worth checking supermarkets such as Aldi and Lidl who quite often have BBQ pizza ovens available to buy during Special Buy events.
