Do you find it intimidating to step foot into the gym or sometimes simplylack motivation to do a workout? If you answered “yes” then the new Peloton Tread, which aims to help you “run towards a stronger, faster, better you”, could just be the thing you need.

While the brand was established in 2012, during the lockdowns Peloton sales soared as people turned to home workouts. Here, we answer all your pressing questions about what the new Peloton Tread actually is, what it costs and if it’s actually worth the price tag...

What is Peloton Tread?

You’re probably familiar with the well known phrase “Are you ready Peloton?” from the brand’s TV advert and now Peloton has released a brand new innovative piece of high-tech workout equipment called the Tread.

Whereas the Peloton Bike purely focuses on cycling, the Tread takes this one step further (think of it as a super luxurious treadmill). On the Tread, you can practice your running, walking and marathon prep, whereas off the tread the display console can take you through full body workouts, HIIT classes, stretching and even meditation all within the comfort of your own home and without stepping foot in a gym.

Unlike a standard treadmill, the Peloton tread comes with a 23.8 inch sweatproof touchscreen, which also includes a 8 megapixel camera so you can connect and chat with your other Peloton buddies. It has immersive front facing speakers too and the display console can also be tilted for different heights, so whether you’re working out on the tread or doing meditation on the floor, the screen can be adjusted to you.

Size-wise, the tread is 173 cm long and 84 cm wide, so you will require a little more space for this bit of equipment in comparison to the Peloton Bike.

How much is a Peloton Tread?

The Peloton Tread costs £2,295, the same price as the Peloton Bike+, however, this price doesn’t include the Peloton membership price (£39 per month), which is really required to get the best use of the Tread. Just like the Peleton Bike and Bike+, you can buy different packages for the tread, which consist of extra add ons to use alongside it such as weights, earbuds, a workout mat, heart rate monitor and much more. The more add ons you buy with the Peloton Tread, the more expensive the package is.

Are Peloton treadmills safe?

While there have been concerns over the safety of the product after a sad incident earlier this year, Peleton did recall the Tread and a new and improved version was re-released in the UK on 30 August 2021, which has been tested vigorously.

Is the Peloton Tread worth it?

If you’re someone who lacks motivation, doesn’t know what to do in terms of working out and generally just needs a bit of encouragement with your fitness, the Peloton tread could genuinely work really well for you.

Just like the Peloton Bike and Bike+, the Tread has received plenty of raving reviews for its fun and varied workouts. Of course, the price is a little steep, however Peloton do offer the option to pay in monthly instalments, at £54 per month for 43 months at 0% APR. If you’re still unsure, the brand even has an online calculator to compare your current fitness costs to the cost of buying a Peloton, so you can see which is actually more beneficial financially in the long run.

Can Peloton Tread be used without subscription?

You can still use the Peloton Tread without a membership. You’ll have access to three pre-recorded classes, which will be pre-selected for you, and you’ll also be able to use it as a standard treadmill. But unlike with the all-access membership, you won’t have access to Peloton’s workout library or live classes. The all-access membership costs £39 per month

When is Peloton tread coming to the UK?

The Peloton Tread is available to buy in the UK from the Peloton website.

Peloton says the delivery time for the tread usually takes 3 to 5 weeks and it also comes with a 30 Day Home Trial, so if you’re not completely convinced after the 30 days you can get your money back.
