Everything we know so far about ITV’s Vanity Fair

From the all-star cast (including several Yours magazine favourites!) to the gorgeous costumes, we’re very excited to see the first image from the new series Vanity Fair.

Period drama fans are in for a treat - there's another no-expenses-spared TV series just around the corner.

Made by ITV and Amazon Studios, Vanity Fair has now started filming and has an amazing case. Olivia Cooke, already the star in Steven Spielberg’s latest film Ready Player One, will play the lead role of Becky Sharp – and from the picture wears a bonnet very well!

She’ll be joined by Johnny Flynn as Dobbin, Yours favourite Martin Clunes as Sir Pitt Crawley, Frances de La Tour as Matilda Crawley, the wonderful Suranne Jones as Miss Pinkerton and Michael Palin as the author William Makepeace Thackeray himself.

Also joining will be Claudia Jessie – who you may remember from Line of Duty – as Amelia Sedley, Claire Skinner (the mum in Outnumbered), Tom Bateman (who is soon to appear in Murder on the Orient Express) and Charlie Rowe.

The series is being filmed in Budapest and London.

The story follows Becky Sharp as she uses her wiles to escape poverty and join the upper classes of English society, and takes place against the backdrop of the Napoleonic Wars.

“Vanity Fair feels like the perfect classic to adapt for ITV, and Gwyneth Hughes’ stunning scripts bring the novel to life in a way that will really connect with a modern audience,” says Polly Hill, Head of Drama for ITV. “The question was always who would be our perfect Becky Sharp and that is undoubtedly Olivia Cooke! So we are thrilled she has agreed to play Becky, in what promises to be a very exciting new drama for ITV next year.”

We’ll be tuning in – will you?
