Fancy having Prince Harry round for Christmas? Well this year you can…sort of! His Royal Highness will be guest editing a special festive edition of Radio 4’s Today programme, and we can’t wait to hear what he has to say.
The Today programme is a topical news show that each year allows different famous faces (or voices, rather) to present their own one-off festive editions. This tradition has been going for 13 years. Previous guest editors have included famous actors, scientists and political figures. Harry is actually the second royal editor, after Sarah Ferguson (when she was still the Duchess of York) presented in 2004.
Prince Harry, and the other guest editors for this year, will each get to choose content for roughly half of the episode, selecting issues and topics that mean a lot to them.
It tops off a rather vocal year for the Prince, who has been involved in lots of public-facing events, supporting causes including mental health, and bravely speaking about the death of his mother for the first time in public.
Kensington Palace have said he will use the opportunity to “shine a spotlight on a number of issues that are close to his heart.” Apparently, he is researching topics including youth violence, conservation and mental health.
We’re looking forward to finding out even more about what makes him tick.
