It's going to be a snowy Christmas for the residents of Nonnatus House in this year's festive Call the Midwife special. Here's everything we know about the very special episode, from when it's on to who's starring.
What will happen in the Christmas Call the Midwife?
This year's festive special is set in the Big Freeze of the winter of 1962 to 1963. Many of us remember the blistering chill ourselves - and its many inconveniences.
"We were given an incredible historical gift because Boxing Day 1962 was the first day of the Big Freeze," says writer and creator Heidi Thomas. Little did we know, that snow wasn't going to melt for the next three months.
This episode is going to be a real winter wonderland, packed with snowmen, stockings and all the traditions we loved as children (and still do today!)
The Big Freeze saw a whopping two feet of snow in London, with water pipes freezing and many people unable to leave their homes.
Did you know? The festive special was actually filmed over the summer during a heatwave!
There's a pantomime to organise and - of course - babies to be delivered and kept warm. Plus from the preview images, we're delighted to see Sister Julienne (aka Yours favourite Jenny Agutter) showing off a tinsel-strewn TV, just like we remember!
- Find out why tinsel is making a come-back!

Who's in the Christmas special?
It looks like many of our favourite members of the Call the Midwife cast are taking part.
Helen George is back as Nurse Trixie, having recently had a baby girl in real life! Poor Trixie misses out on her skiing holiday with boyfriend Christopher (Jack Hawkins) as a result of the snow and ice, although she and the other midwives and nuns soon set about spreading festive cheer as best they can.
Meanwhile Barbara Gilbert (Charlotte Ritchie) and Rev Tom Hereward (Jack Ashton) spend their first Christmas together as newly weds. But, as with any good drama, Tom is given news that forces him to make a big decision.
Newcomer Nurse Valerie Dyer (Jennifer Kirby) enjoys her first Christmas in Nonnatus House and has an emotional storyline.
Joining them will be former Eastenders star Anita Dobson, who's a huge fan of Call the Midwife, and was delighted to take part. She plays frail Mabel Tillerson who requires quite complex help from the sisters after the death of one of Dr Turner's patients. Here's a picture of her with Sister Julienne:
