From the writer of Poldark and Cutting It, Debbie Horsfield brings us new BBC drama, Age Before Beauty.
Set around family-run beauty salon, Mirrorbel in Manchester's Northern Quarter, Age Before Beauty stars Polly Walker as mother Bel, whose children have just left for university and is looking to become more involved with the family business after her brother-in-law Teddy (Robson Green) begs her to save the family business before it goes bust.
Working alongside Bel in the salon is Bel's mum Ivy-Rae (Sue Johnston) and sisters Leanne (Kelly Harrison), Tina (Lisa Riley) and Heidi (Vicky Meyers) who is mum to nine-year-old daughter, Disney.
Speaking about the drama, Debbie Horsfield said:
“Family has always played a large role in my work and I enjoy exploring the dynamics between siblings and different generations. In Age Before Beauty we have three generations, aged from nine to late 60s, and we’ve been fortunate enough to assemble an extraordinary cast.
“It’s been fun to return to the world of contemporary Manchester after being immersed in 18th century Cornwall for the past few years, but in truth I’ve loved both worlds and would happily return to either and both!"
