Our review of the Hobot Legee Q10 Robot Vacuum and Mop
After a month of living with the Hobot Legee Q10, I can confidently say it’s become part of the family — well, almost. As a mum with two young kids who track mud and grass through the house every day, a full-time job, and a Golden Retriever who creates a carpet of fur everywhere she goes, a robot vacuum sounded like a dream. Since getting our dog we’ve had to hoover at least once a day so the thought of removing this daily task was appealing. Equally, mopping the floor is my least favourite job so I was hoping the Hobot Legee would also help take that off my list. As you’ll see, while the Legee Q10 delivers a fair amount for its price, there are a few points that are worth knowing before taking the plunge.

Build
The Q10 is fairly compact and sleek in design, which helps it squeeze under most furniture. The circular design also seems to be helpful when it comes to navigating its way around chair legs etc. It feels sturdy and looks smart enough to leave out in your home. One important thing to note is that the charging station needs to be set up near a plug and within reach of a decent Wi-Fi signal. But saying that, it seems pretty good at picking up the Wi-Fi- our house has very thick walls and we’ve had to position the charger station as far away from the router as possible simply because that was the only available wall space near a plug, but it still picks up the signal.
Pairing with the app was quick and easy, with just a few steps to let the app talk to Legee. The app interface is intuitive enough, letting you schedule cleanings or direct it to certain areas and even select different cleaning types for each area which is ideal if you have one room that’s carpeted and one that’s hard floors.

Performance
The vacuuming function is quite good, especially on hard floors and low-pile carpets. It picks up dog fur with ease and does a pretty thorough everyday clean, even getting into corners thanks to the spinning brushes on the edge which sweep up debris. I’m not convinced that the suction is strong enough to deal with anything more than the surface level fur and debris on carpets so these still need a weekly clean with my Miele vacuum.
However, the mopping feature leaves a bit to be desired. It tends to be patchy — like it’s trying its best but hasn’t quite mastered the art of evenly distributing water or pressure. Don’t expect gleaming floors after a mop cycle; it’s more of a quick surface refresh. You also can’t use anything except water in the machine so I don’t know how clean it would be able to get the floors without cleaning fluid.
It is very good and determining between hard floors and carpets so will use the mop function on the hard floor in my living room but switch to just hoovering when it moves onto the rug. It does struggle a bit with level changes, sometimes leaves a trail of debris behind and jolting a bit when moving from hardwood to the rug. It once got stuck on the chewed-up edge of some Lino (thanks again, dog), but impressively managed to free itself just by shimmying around until it reached a smoother edge.
While some robot vacs have a self-emptying mechanism, this one is a manual job. The trash box isn’t particularly big so I’ve been emptying it after every clean but it’s easy enough to do – you just lift the top flat of the Legee, snap out the box, unclip the top, empty it into the bin and pop it back in.

Usability
The Hobot Legee works well for a simple everyday clean and has certainly taken a daily job off my list. It’s not overly loud so I can set it going from my desk, let it do its thing while I’m working, and know that I’ll be able to walk into a kitchen that’s free of dog fur when I take my lunch break – for the sake of my sanity alone I’d say it’s worth it.
That said, it’s clearly built for open-plan homes. If you have lots of rooms, rugs, or clutter, you’ll probably spend more time putting chairs on the table, opening doors and moving obstacles. It can get confused sometimes and can’t find its way back to the charger — especially if the dock isn’t plugged in (which it needs to be to work properly). However, it powers back up quickly and seems to be efficient with its energy use. It uses 15% of battery life and 26 minutes to clean 13.86sqm of space. It’s then back up to 100% battery life in 45 minutes.

Final Verdict
The Hobot Legee Q10 is a solid entry-level robot vacuum for homes with mostly hard flooring, minimal obstacles, and a need for light, regular cleaning. It's especially helpful if you have pets like mine that seem to shed a whole extra animal each week. The mopping isn't amazing and it's not a replacement for a deep clean, but it certainly takes the edge off the daily mess. While it won’t replace your normal vacuum or floor cleaner, if you’re after a low-fuss helper to keep on top of dust and dog fur, and your space is robot-friendly, the Q10 could certainly be a worthwhile addition to your home routine.
