When it comes to plus-sized fashion, Alison Hammond's clothes are undoubtedly the most fashionable. Believe it or not, Alison Hammond has been on and off of our screens for almost twenty years when she made her TV debut on Big Brother series three alongside the late Jade Goody. Although she wasn't a style icon then, she most definitely is now, as she sports some of the best dresses we have seen on daytime TV.
However, if I'm completely honest, one of my favourite things about Alison right now is her choice of clothes. In my role as Yours Deputy Style Editor, I've had the pleasure of styling the likes of Kate Garaway and Vanessa Feltz, and here's my take on Alison's wonderful wardrobe, plus my top tips on how to style yourself to flatter your fabulous curves.
Alison’s wardrobe is one of my absolute favourites. The For The Love Of Dogs presenter often opts for bright, vibrant colours along with lots of beautiful, bold prints. She’s a big fan of wrap dresses, which nip her in at the waist but in the same breath, she is also often spotted in a comfy tunic top style with jeans or trousers - all of these styles are excellent for a body-confidence boost. I’ve also noticed that Alison loves a good jacket, like a blazer or a waterfall style, which she often layers over her outfits for a little extra coverage.
Where does Alison Hammond buy her clothes from?
Finding clothing worn by Alison may be tricky since she doesn’t post her outfits on Instagram like Lorraine Kelly and Cat Deeley. However, Alison works with some great stylists, and I spoke with Rachael Hughes, who styles her This Morning looks, to get the lowdown on how to achieve Alison's signature style.
Hughes tells me that when it comes to clothing brands, Alison loves high street shops that offer plus sizes. "Our favourites are River Island, New Look, Asos, Karen Millen and Yours Clothing.
"When choosing dresses for Alison, I usually go with a shirt dress in a midi or maxi length with a slight A-line style. It's a really flattering fit on her and we sometimes add a belt for extra waist cinching. We also love a long sleeve bodycon maxi dress in a stretchable fabric for a really fresh look that accentuates her curves."
When it comes to choosing outfits, Hughes tells me the priorities for Alison are comfort and colour.
"Alison loves to feel like herself and to move around and enjoy the show in her outfit. Generally, bright colours are best for morning TV, and she really suits the primary, bold colours too."
Another great styling tip Hughes shares with me that she uses bright colours to accentuate the top of Alison's body with the darker colours on her bottom half.

Alison has won her place as our top style icon for curvy women, but let’s face it, not everyone has a team of excellent stylists on hand to help find the best figure-flattering outfits. So what should curvy women look out for when shopping for a new outfit?
My number one tip is to buy clothes that enhance your favourite body parts. For example, if you love that you have a bigger bust, then opt for a V-neckline which shows off your assets rather than a high neckline which can feel a little frumpy. Something like a classic wrap dress is a perfect example of this. Another thing to look out for when dress shopping is a soft A-line skirt. These are great for skimming over hips and thighs, whereas pencil styles often cling. I’m also a big fan of tunic tops for the same reason.
I also recommend that curvy women shop with brands that specifically design clothing for curvy women, this way you can ensure you’re buying a more specialist fit. Alison is a huge fan of brands like ASOS Curve and Yours, who design clothes especially for curvy women.
What fabrics are best for curvy women?
When it comes to dressing for your body shape, you need to think about more than just the style, as the fabric of your outfits can also play a big part in your final look. While soft-stretchy materials like jersey feel super comfortable, they’re not the most flattering as they usually end up sagging over time.
I always recommend investing in high-quality, structured fabrics like cotton or crepe which mould around your body's curves in a more flattering way. Viscose is also another great option as it is breathable and drapes in a more elegant way than others.
What about colours and prints?
There is absolutely no need to stick to plain, dark clothing when dressing a curvy figure – fashion is meant to be fun after all! If the shape and fit of your clothes suit your figure, then there is nothing stopping you from introducing vibrant colours. Bold prints are also excellent for disguising any lumps and bumps that you may be worried about – Alison wearing her fun frocks by Dancing Leopard is a great example of this.
