Fans of Cormoran Strike and Robin Ellacott, get ready - Strike Series 7: The Running Grave is happening, and it sounds like this instalment of the BBC drama will be one of the most gripping chapters yet.
It's been reported that the next adaptation in the Strike series, based on Robert Galbraith’s bestselling books (yep, that’s J.K. Rowling’s pen name), is in development. While cameras aren’t rolling just yet, filming is expected to kick off in autumn 2025, with the show likely hitting our screens in late 2026. It feels like a long wait, but it’ll be worth it.
What's The Running Grave about?
In Strike Series 7: The Running Grave, our favourite detective duo are pulled into a seriously dark case. A worried father hires Strike to rescue his son from the Universal Humanitarian Church, which might look like a peaceful group on the outside - but spoiler alert - it’s definitely not.
Robin goes undercover inside the cult and what she finds is intense, disturbing, and deeply emotional. This case hits close to home for both her and Strike, with personal traumas bubbling up and some serious risks along the way.
The season is expected to tackle: cults and mind control, deep undercover danger, Robin’s emotional resilience, Strike’s family history and yep, more unresolved tension between the pair...

Strike series 7: The Running Grave cast
Good news: Tom Burke and Holliday Grainger are back as Strike and Robin. These two have become the heart and soul of the series, and fans have been loving their chemistry since day one.
We don't have the full cast list yet, but given the characters in The Running Grave, expect a bunch of new (and seriously shady) faces.
If you’re as excited as we are, stay tuned - there’s more info coming as production gears up. And if you haven’t caught up with the series on BBC iPlayer or read the book yet… now’s your chance!
