Martin Clunes has been married to his wife, Philippa Braithwaite since 1997. While Clunes has an extensive acting profile, known for his roles in Men Behaving Badly and Doc Martin, he has kept his private life quiet.

Philippa is a TV and film producer known for her work on Sliding Doors (1998), Doc Martin (2019) and most recently the series, Manhunt (2019).
How did Martin and his wife meet?
As the pair have careers in the same industry, they met working alongside each other. Clunes opened up in an interview that they “met while working together, it's the way it's always been for us, and it's absolutely fine." Philippa and Clunes often work on the same productions, including Manhunt and Doc Martin.
The two started dating and Clunes later proposed to her in Hawaii on a shoot. In an interview with the Irish News, Martin revealed his motivations behind the proposal.
"I was doing a holiday programme, I wish they'd come back, they were just great. And they'd agreed to fly Philippa out, and I'd done San Francisco and Hawaii on the same trip and she came out at the end of the Hawaii shoot. It was the longest we'd been apart, and I missed her so much that I proposed, while she was really jet lagged and in such a strange place," Clunes gushed.
The couple returned to Hawaii 23 years later and stayed at the hotel where he had gotten down on one knee. He joked that he couldn't find the hotel anywhere, so he tracked it down on Google Earth.

Martin and Philippa decided to move away from hectic London life to Dorset and now enjoy life together on their animal-packed working farm.

The family live on a 130-acre farm near Beaminster. The farm is bustling with animals, including four dogs, two cats, 14 horses and chickens! Together they host an annual Buckham Fair which raises money for charity.

The family all have a horse and love living in the countryside which has led daughter Emily into pursuing a career in equestrian.
