American actress, Jamie Lee Curtis is a household name. Not only is she a very successful actress, she's also an author and activist. From horror films, to comedies, she's done it all and proved herself a very worthy actress.

Born in Santa Monica California in 1958 to mum Janet Leigh and dad Tony Curtis, Jamie Lee has an older sister, Kelly Curtis who is also an actress. With having such famous actors as parents, it's easy to see how Jamie Lee and her sister ended up on screen.

She attended Westlake School in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills High School and later University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, the same as her mother. However she dropped out to pursue her acting career.

Her parents divorced in 1962 and she has stated previously that her father was 'not around' following the divorce.

Her first ever film was in 1978 where she starred as Laurie Strode in Halloween. Her iconic performance in this saw her star in a string of further horror movies and she was often and still is known as a 'scream queen' for her roles.

As well as Halloween and its sequels, some of her other famous films that did well in the box office include The Fog, Prom Night, Terror Train, Trading Places, A Fish Called Wanda, Perfect, Blue Steel, True Lies, My Girl, Freaky Friday, Christmas with the Kranks and Knives out to name a few. She has also been a voice in many animated films including Beverley Hills Chihuahua and The Little Engine That Could.

She has also appeared in a number of TV series including Scream Queens and Anything But Love, which she won a Golden Globe for.

She married actor Christopher Guest in 1984 and the couple have two adopted children together, Annie and Thomas.

As well as a successful acting career, she has also written a number of children's books with illustrator, Laura Cornell.

Her most successful, Today I Feel Silly, and Other Moods That Make My Day, 1998 was listed on the New York Times best-seller list for 10 weeks.
