Clarkson’s Farm has unveiled an emotional first look at its upcoming fifth series and it shows Jeremy Clarkson opening up about the serious heart emergency that left him needing urgent surgery.
The 66-year-old broadcaster revealed in October 2024 that he had been rushed to hospital after doctors warned he could have been just days away from death. He later underwent emergency surgery to have a stent fitted after three blocked arteries stopped his heart from receiving enough blood.
Now, a year and a half on, viewers will see the health scare unfold on screen when the new series launches on Prime Video on 3 June. Similarly to season four, the new series will roll out in stages, with four episodes launching on Wednesday, 3 June, followed by two more on 10 June and the final instalment on 17 June.
A newly released trailer includes footage of Jeremy in hospital with ECG wires attached to his chest. After recovering, he is seen explaining the severity of the situation to farm manager Kaleb Cooper.
“You’ve got three arteries that feed your heart to keep it pumping,” he says. “My heart wasn’t getting any blood.”
As well as documenting his health battle, the new series will follow Jeremy as he attends the farmers’ protest in London in November 2024. Thousands gathered to oppose changes to inheritance tax for farmers announced in the Budget.
Despite strict advice from his doctor to rest his voice, Jeremy tells agricultural adviser Charlie Ireland: “The doctor told me not to speak. Amazon’s told me not to speak.” True to form, however, the former Top Gear presenter goes on to address the crowds anyway.
Back on the farm, there are lighter moments too. Fans will see Jeremy trial a driverless tractor – much to Kaleb’s alarm. “That’s basically taking my job,” he jokes. But his fears prove short-lived when the high-tech machinery promptly breaks down. “That went well,” he adds dryly.
The trailer also hints at more heartbreak for Diddly Squat Farm. Jeremy is informed that the farm has been placed “under restrictions” following a bovine tuberculosis outbreak. In October 2024, he shared the devastating news that the first calf ever born on the farm had been put down while pregnant with twins after testing positive for TB.
Sharing his sadness on social media at the time, he described the loss as “so sad”.

Jeremy originally bought Diddly Squat Farm in 2008 as an investment but began running it himself in 2019 with the help of farming experts. The first series of Clarkson’s Farm aired in 2021 and quickly became one of Prime Video’s biggest hits, winning over viewers with its honest portrayal of modern farming – and Jeremy’s steep learning curve.
Season five promises more drama, emotion and, of course, plenty of classic Clarkson humour when it arrives this June.
