Back in 1978 we fell in love with Danny and Sandy. We wanted to go on a date with a T-bird and be a Pink Lady. Since then, audiences still can't get enough of the much-loved musical, with hopes that there could be a reunion planned with the original cast this year to celebrate its 40th anniversary this year!
However, star of Grease, Olivia Newton-John thinks it is "a bit late now" for a Grease reunion. Speaking to Simon Thompson for Forbes.com, the 69-year-old actress wasn't sure how a reunion movie would work with the cast being older.
She said: "I think it's a bit late now. What would you do? Put us in a nursing home? I can't imagine that working now but you never know what someone could come up with. If there was a great idea then, of course, we would consider it, or at least I would. If John was up for it then I think I would be too but we couldn't do it without each other. Let's see what the future brings."
She added: "In all honesty, it was like being at a normal school because I didn't go to one like that. At my school, there was a uniform, the boys and the girls we kept separate and the environment was very different. In so many ways it was an experience I'd never had before. The film's producer, Allan Carr, kind of created a party atmosphere with us all and encouraged us to hang out together. He'd come by every day and give us a pep talk and keep the energy up."
Olivia also revealed that she still keeps in contact with some of the Grease cast members!
"I stay in touch with John and also DiDi Conn who played Frenchy. They're the two that I see the most. Whenever we're in the same city we get together and it's like we just saw each other yesterday, we pick up where we left off. I stay in touch with a few others via email and everyone's stayed connected that way."
