With the rise in popularity of reality TV in recent years, famous personalities such as the Kardashians and Love Island contestants have shot to fame after being in the public eye, gaining celebrity status. However, Elton John has recently slammed this form of celebrity, claiming they aren't worthy.
The 71-year-old musician has slammed reality stars on the ITV2 dating show which has featured the likes of Kem Cetinay who you may recognise from Dancing on Ice. Elton believes you have to be a celebrated movie or film star "at the top of your game" to be considered a household name.
Appearing on singer George Ezra's 'George Ezra & Friends' podcast, the 'Rocket Man' hitmaker commented: "Now the word 'celebrity', you can be somebody off 'Love Island', I don't know who they are.
"For me, a celebrity is somebody who is top of their game, a top film star, in music, whatever. I hate the word 'celebrity'.
"You've got to work for it and the people that don't work for it and get it instantaneously are the ones that go pfft."

Elton John's final tour
After 50 years in showbiz, Elton is soon to take a step back from performing to spend more time with sons Zachary, seven, and Elijah, five - whom he has with husband David Furnish - however he insists he'll still be working on creative projects, including a musical he has completed.
Speaking with George Ezra about what he will do after he retires from touring, he said: "I'm always going to be creative, I'm always going to be interested in creative stuff, and you know, I think after this tour is finished, I'll take a few years off and see what's going to happen.
"But creatively, I will be doing writing a lot, and who knows what's going to happen. If you let things happen for you, that's the magic of life. I will be creative, hopefully, up until the day I die."
