If you’re a creative soul at heart who loves crafting then a Hobbycraft workshop could be right up your street!

There’s lots to choose from including wreath making, card making, soap making, brush lettering, candle making and many, many more. For most projects you’re given the option of doing an in-store workshop or being sent the materials to do at home. The price is the same for both and if you opt to do your workshop at home you get access to an online guide.

How does it work

I choose to make an autumnal wreath in my local store. Booking online at Hobbycraft.com was very quick and easy and there were lots of times and dates for me to choose from.

On arrival for my class I found our ‘workshop table’ was located right in the middle of the store. At first this felt a little intimidating having everyone watch you but it wasn’t long until I got so engrossed in my craft that I forgot all about it!

I was presented with a beautiful box containing all my materials and instructions. It felt like Christmas! We had a craft teacher who explained what we were making and showed us an example of one that had been made earlier- very Blue Peter!

I was given a wreath base, a glue gun and lots of lovely little decorations including two beautiful paper sunflowers, faux red berries, dried flowers, shells and conker-like nuts and some hessian fabric for hanging my wreath.

What I liked about this project was that it was very much up to me how I decorated it. I could use my creative ideas to arrange the decorations on my wreath.

I started by working out roughly where I wanted things to go then when I was happy I stuck them in place with the glue gun.

Once dry I then cut my hessian fabric to make a ‘ribbon-like strap to hang it.

I was absolutely thrilled with the end result and thought it looked so professional! As soon as I got home I proudly hung it up on my front door! It actually stayed there for a couple of months through wind and rain and lasted so well- I was very impressed and will be getting it out again next year.

Would you recommend this class?

I’d definitely recommend attending a Hobbycraft workshop, it’s fun and the items you make are high quality and so effective. I think the price of £35 is very reasonable and would love to try an online class next time.
