If you, like us, are a keen Strictly Come Dancing fan, then you've probably had your eyes glued to the TV every Saturday night.

If you're particularly eagle-eyed, you might have even spotted a few of the contestants sporting some very odd looking shoulder straps during their training sessions.

In training for Strictly Come Dancing's week 5 show, HRVY was seen wearing a set of thick black shoulder straps over his t-shirt while training for his tango with dance partner Janette Manrara. We wanted to know what the curious gadget was, so we got down to investigating and discovered that the straps were, in fact, a posture corrector.

Evidently Janette decided that HRVY could use a little help in the perfect frame department and got him wearing a posture corrector. No wonder he got three tens in week 6 of the show.

What is a posture corrector?

Sometimes called a back brace, a posture corrector works to train your muscles to engage and support your body in the 'right' way and in the 'right' position. But, did you also know that a posture corrector could also be the answer to all your working-from-home-back-pain woes?

How will a posture corrector help my back in a chair?

It's safe to say that a lot of us took our office chairs and desks for granted before 2020. After a prolonged period spent working from home many of us are experiencing back pains and tension headaches which, a lot of the time, could be caused by hours spent sitting slumped forwards with your shoulders rounded.

Bad posture like this can lead to an imbalance in the way your muscles are working, which can cause tension and pain, and incur headaches and back pain. (head to the NHS website for a guide to common posture mistakes and fixes).

A gentle back brace like a posture corrector will work to remind our muscles where they ought to be to best support our bodies.

If you're interested, take a look at the video below to learn how to fit your corrector, and start by wearing yours for around 15-30 minutes a day. And, make sure to remove it if you start to feel uncomfortable, you may also want to see your GPs advice before even purchasing one.
