Fans were left heartbroken when Gavin & Stacey wrapped up at Christmas, marking the end of one of Britain’s most beloved sitcoms. But it’s far from the last we’ll see of its creators and stars, Ruth Jones and James Corden. The pair have teamed up once again - this time for Apple TV+ - with a brand-new comedy drama The Choir.

Not only are Jones and Corden starring in the project, but they are also executive producing the series. The news comes just days after it was revealed that they had signed a (reportedly) multi-million-pound contract with the streaming service.

The pair have been close friends for years, after meeting on the set of Fat Friends and have spoken about their love of working together on numerous occasions.

Back in May, speaking at the winners’ press conference at the 2025 BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises, Ruth said: "I love working with James Corden, I really do, and I hope that we will carry on working together. We will [work together again], because we both just like sitting in a room together. We do do a lot of napping, but we do write as well, when we get going!"

According to Deadline, The Choir will star James Corden as Ben and Ruth Jones as Lisa, siblings who have been estranged for several years. Ben has been living overseas, while Lisa has stayed in their quiet English hometown, where life moves at a slow pace. However, when circumstances take an unexpected turn, Ben must return to a life he tried to leave behind, a town he never felt at home in, and a family he has been distant from.

The rest of the cast for The Choir has not yet been announced, although Ruth Jones has previously spoken about her hopes to work with Dawn French.

In an interview with the British Comedy Guide, she revealed: "Dawn French. I'm a mad, crazed fan. I went to see her one-woman show, 30 Million Minutes, and it was wonderful. Funny, but very, very moving. It's her life story and she tells it in such an unpitying way."

Filming for The Choir is expected to begin next year (according to The Sun), with the series set to arrive in 2027. Apple TV+ has yet to make an official announcement.
