There’s set to be a bit of a Riot Women reunion in season three of Sherwood, with Rosalie Craig joining the cast and Lorraine Ashbourne returning to the award-winning BBC drama.
Rosalie, who recently appeared in The Hack, is one of several new faces this series. She’s joined by Sue Johnston (The Royle Family, Riot Women), Joe Dempsie (Get Millie Black, Toxic Town), Kirby Howell-Baptiste (The Sandman, Sugar), Peter Wight (Another Year, A Confession), Ben Batt (Riot Women, Toxic Town) and Adam Long (Happy Valley, Masters of the Air).

As mentioned, Lorraine Ashbourne (After the Flood, Alma’s Not Normal) isback as Daphne Sparrow, the undercover police officer, alongside David Morrissey (Daddy Issues, The Walking Dead) as former DCS Ian St Clair, now working as a police advisor.
Lesley Manville (The Crown, Moonflower Murders) returns as Julie Jackson, the widow of murdered miner Gary Jackson, with Claire Rushbrook (Home Fires, My Mad Fat Diary) playing her sister Cathy. Perry Fitzpatrick (Line of Duty, This Is England) and Bill Jones (The Village, Say Nothing) appear as Rory and Ronan Sparrow, the sons of Daphne and her late husband Mickey.
Robert Lindsay (My Family, Jericho) is also back as shady businessman Franklin Warner, a former informant for Margaret Thatcher’s government. He’s joined once again by Lindsay Duncan (Truelove, About Time) and Robert Glenister (Spooks, The Night Caller), who reprise their roles from the first series.

Set six months after the dramatic events of the last series, Sherwood season three introduces a brand-new family at the centre of the story.
The Wood family appear to be solid, well-respected members of the community, heavily involved in local life and the church. Zoe Wood (Rosalie Craig) is a particularly vocal champion for her hometown, while her husband Alex (Joe Dempsie) is overseeing the construction of the new Gotham housing estate on the edge of Sherwood Forest. The couple live on the estate with their children, as well as Zoe’s parents, Irene and Eric Bostall (Sue Johnston and Peter Wight), who are among its very first residents.
Elsewhere, DI Zara Gill (Kirby Howell-Baptiste) is leading the investigation into the human remains discovered in the reservoir following Ann’s (Monica Dolan) death. As police work to identify the victims, the case uncovers links to several missing people connected to the Branson family’s criminal past. One shocking discovery, however, brings the investigation uncomfortably close to home.

"Forty years after he first went missing, the body of Arthur Bostall is unearthed from Nottingham’s ancient caves, and a series of unnerving questions begins to arise over who killed him and why." the synopsis reads.
"As the Wood and Bostall families find themselves being forced to look back into the past, events in the present conspire to uncover more buried secrets for the family and the wider community alike."
Speaking about the new series, writer James Graham says: “The joy of Sherwood for me is introducing brand-new characters with exciting original stories each and every series, alongside existing characters and actors I’ve grown to love.

"The new Wood family, despite their down-to-earth humour and charm, are going to be put through the most intense experience we’ve created yet - a normal family, in the most extraordinary situation, which we hope will have audiences asking: ‘what would I do?’ We’ll also be returning to other strands, including Daphne Sparrow (Lorraine Ashbourne) and her long-kept secret past…”
