It’s time to dust off the flat caps - BBC has officially announced that two brand-new series of Peaky Blinders are in development!
Set in 1953, about a decade after the events of the upcoming feature film The Immortal Man, the sequel follows a new generation of Shelbys as they navigate the aftermath of the Birmingham Blitz.
What is the new Peaky Blinders series about?
"Britain, 1953. After being heavily bombed in WWII, Birmingham is building a better future out of concrete and steel," the logline reads.
"In a new era of Steven Knight’s Peaky Blinders, the race to own Birmingham’s massive reconstruction project becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions. This is a city of unprecedented opportunity and danger: with the Shelby family right at its blood-soaked heart."

Steven Knight - who has also penned series such as House of Guinness and SAS Rogue Heroes - said: “I’m thrilled to be announcing this new chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. Once again, it will be rooted in Birmingham and will tell the story of a city rising from the ashes of the Blitz. The new generation of Shelbys have taken the wheel, and it will be a hell of a ride.”
Will Cillian Murphy return to Peaky Blinders as Tommy Shelby?
The upcoming Peaky Blinders movie will serve as a farewell to Thomas Shelby, as a new generation will be taking centre stage. However, Cillian Murphy will still be involved in the project - just not in front of the camera.
Instead of reprising his iconic role, he will take on the position of executive producer, working alongside series creator Steven Knight.
