The Yours Members site has all the latest from the magazine, including celebrity interviews like this chat with Call the Midwife and Harry Potter star Miriam Margolyes, 82, on inspiring others.

I’ve never been so busy in my whole life – or more famous. And I don’t know how to explain it, other than via Graham Norton’s chat show [Miriam has made several outrageously funny appearances on the show].

He encourages me to be naughty, not that I need much encouragement! I’ve always been naughty. I remember my French teacher at school telling me I was naughty, although never wicked.

Prioritise connection

My favourite topics are money, sex, religion and politics and that’s because each of them is likely to provoke people in one way or another. My raison d’être is connection and reaction.

I don’t want to upset people and, if I do, I upset myself. It’s never my intention to offend. My motivation is to make people think.

Some people may be offended because of my liberal use of swear words. Well, they’ll just have to get used to that. Far worse things happen in the world than someone using four-letter words.

Enjoy the past

I’ve just written a second volume of my memoir, Oh Miriam!, which I found difficult. The truth is that I only did it because I was offered so much money.

That said, I enjoyed thinking about the past and the people I loved and lost. Sometimes, it feels as though life has slipped through my fingers.
