Jane Fonda launches H&M “movewear” campaign

If you're no stranger to fitness DVDS and at-home exercises, it's likely the name Jane Fonda conjures up images of iconic colourful leotards and leg warmers.

In 1982, a young Jane Fonda released her first exercise video, Jane Fonda's Workout. It became the highest-selling VHS of the 20th century and was the first of 22 such videos over the next 13 years. And now, the Oscar-winning actress and women’s rights advocate, along with choreographer JaQuel Knight, has collaborated with retailer H&M to launch H&M Move, a new movewear brand which aims to get the whole world and every body moving with accessible and stylish workout clothes.

“Being a mover has made it possible for me to stay fit and healthy throughout my life,” Jane, 84, says. “I’m not stopping… We should always be trying to move and grow. Being part of this movement for movement makes a lot of sense for me because it is important that no matter who you are or where you are, how old or young you are, you move.”

After making a pledge four years ago to not buy new clothes, Jane told Vogue: "I did agree to do this with H&M, but also because they really are making an effort to become a brand that’s sustainable. They’re committed to creating a planet-positive impact with the full supply chain that ranges from design to production to material innovation to shipments, packaging, who they reach, who’s working in their factories, and what the conditions are. Once they convinced me that they were serious about really taking care of all that, I agreed to collaborate with them because it’s important that a big company like H&M becomes circular. You’ve got to hold their feet to the fire."

However you choose to move, H&M promise to have something for you, from lightweight parkas to running tops, reversible tracksuits to gym shorts. Take a look at some of our favourite pieces below...
