First aid saves lives. Which is why St John Ambulance are once again calling for nominations for their Everyday Heroes Awards, recognising people who've used first aid to make a real difference.
Whether it's yourself or someone you know, they'd like you to nominate someone you think has gone above and beyond to change lives with first aid.
And this year we at Yours magazine are delighted to have teamed up with St John Ambulance to launch a brand new Everyday Heroes award category. The Yours Community First Aid Champion Award celebrates an individual who’s achieved something amazing with first aid, whether that’s a carer or grandparent saving a loved one’s life or an individual going above and beyond to promote first aid in their community.
Other award categories include the Hero Parent of the Year Award and the Guy Evans Young Hero of the Year Award, acknowledging a young person under 18 who's saved a life or made an extraordinary first aid achievement, awarded in honour of Guy Evans who died when first aid might have given him a chance to live.
Finalists of the St John Ambulance Everyday Hero Awards will be invited to a star-studded event later in the year.
Last year's awards saw a host of celebrity supporters including Myleene Klass and the Countess of Wessex celebrate and congratulate the nation's life-savers.
- This year’s finalists will be invited to an exclusive awards ceremony at the Hilton London Bankside on 28 September. To nominate your own everyday hero visit www.sja.org.uk/everydayheroes by midnight on 23 April 2017.
