While we all dread the prospect of a cancer diagnosis, for Sarah Beeny it always felt like one was hanging over her head, just waiting to happen.
“My mum died of the disease when she was just 39,” she tells us. “She had breast cancer which then spread to her brain. I was 10 and feared cancer very badly all my life as a result. I always assumed I would get breast cancer. Anyone else who’s lost a mum would feel this.”
Unfortunately, Sarah’s prediction came true and history repeated itself. She was diagnosed with breast cancer, like her mum Anne had been, last August, aged 50. After receiving radiotherapy, chemotherapy and undergoing a double mastectomy, last month she was given the all clear.
