Those of us with dogs will know that new microchipping laws come into force next year, making it mandatory to bestow an electronic identification chip upon your pooch. Microchips contain vital contact information in the event of a dog being lost or stolen.

UK charity Dogs Trust wants to help as many dogs get microchipped as possible, with their FREE Chip My Dog campaign running until April this year. Visit www.chipmydog.org.uk to find out more. They have already teamed up with vet practices across the country, and now some of our 'Famous Fidos' are showing their support for the scheme.

A survey by OnePoll put the adorable Andrex puppy at the top of our list of favourite famous doggies - closely followed by the Dulux dog.

Dulux representative Johnny Corbett says: "Our wonderful Dulux dog is microchipped because he knows there's no place like home. He's happy to be a poster boy for this great initiative and gives it a resounding bark of support."

Quite right, too!

According to the poll, our Top Dogs are:

  1. Andrex puppy
  2. Dulux dog
  3. K9
  4. Churchill
  5. Nipper, as featured in the HMV advert
  6. Clifford the Big Red Dog

  9. Uggie, from recent film, The Artist
  10. Lola, George Osbourne's dog
