Michael Ball and Alexandra Burke to star in Chess
One of our favourite musicals is set to return to the West End for the first time since 1986. The musical love story will open at the London Coliseum on Thursday 26th April for a five-week season.
The musical which features some of our much loved show tunes was written by ABBA’s Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus with Tim Rice. The original London production starred Elaine Paige, Murray Head and Tommy Korberg. The love story is set around the Cold War during the late 1970’s and early 1980’s.
Musical star Michael Ball will be starring in the role of Anatoly. With over 30 years’ experience in theatre, Michael has been in famous musicals including Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Hairspray to name a few.
He will star alongside singer and Strictly star Alexandra Burke who will play Svetlana. After winning The X Factor back in 2008, Alexandra has gone on to produce number one singles as well as star in the much-acclaimed musical, The Bodyguard. She also managed to reach the Strictly Come Dancing final in 2017 and went on the Strictly tour.
