Good news for fans of period drama, as ITV has announced a new 'epic' series called Beecham House, which will be set in a gorgeous Indian mansion in the 19th century.
We're big fans of period drama on the channel - let's not forget it brought us Downton Abbey - so we're optimistic this could be a new favourite series!
It announced this month that Beecham House has been commissioned, and promises an 'ambitious' series on a grand scale. It's being made by Gurinder Chadha, who made the popular film Bend It Like Beckham.
- Could there be a Downton Abbey movie?
It's going to be set in a mansion in 19th century Delhi and follow John Beecham - the wealthy home owner who's a former soldier. John buys the home for a new life for his family and to start work as a trader with the East India Company.
But he has a mysterious past that may mean his dream life comes crashing down.
“Beecham House is a passion project that is driven by my commitment to telling diverse, emotionally engaging stories for mainstream international audiences," says Gurinder.
“I am assembling a vibrant cast of British and Indian actors to play original characters that will appeal to global audiences hungry to see stories from a unique point of view.”
Filming starts in India this Autumn.
We can't wait!
