Tribe Sports thermal running clothing review

Tribe Sports thermal running clothing review

We put Tribe Sport's thermal running top and tights through their paces.

Product: Thermal L/S top and Thermal Tight

Price: £75 each

Rating: ★★★ (3/5)

What they say:

Thermal running tight, crafted using luxury performance fabric with sweat-wicking, breathable and antibacterial (for hygiene and anti-odour) properties. With reflectivity, zip pocket, internal drawcord at waistband, and a soft-brushed internal, this stylish and flattering performance tight is perfect for cooler morning and evening runs, as well as winter running.

What our tester thought:

Running in the winter can be off-putting thanks to the chilly British weather, so having the right gear can be a great motivator. These Tribe Sports tights and top fitted well, and felt toasty warm. Their colour meant they were very flattering, but I would say that if it's cold enough to warrant thermal running gear, it's probably also darker, and runners might benefit from some bright colours or larger reflective patches for safety.

I loved that the top had thumb-holes to keep hands from getting cold, and that the tights had a handy pocket, perfect for keys. I feel that these would also work well for dog walkers and hikers, not just runners.

The downsides were that the top tended to roll upwards during running, so I was frequently having to tug it and adjust it - not ideal when you're trying to lose yourself in a workout. Also it was rarely cold enough outside this winter to wear these without getting quite hot after a few minutes' activity.

If you're serious about running; take a lot of walks in cold weather; or live somewhere with harsh winters, these are worth the price tag, but fair-weather runners can find something more affordable elsewhere.
