We all know how busy our roads can get in the UK, often leading us to feel uneasy and a little nervous when we drive these days. That’s why it’s so important to make sure your car is safe to drive, especially if you’re frequently carting your grandchildren about.
Kia’s newest addition to their fleet is their all new third generation Kia Ceed which offers safety, comfort, practicality and style in one, whilst boasting the latest technological features in motoring to get you from A to B as safely as possible. Our reviewer test drove the new Kia to see what all the fuss was about.
What our reviewer thought
Where better to test drive the new Kia Ceed than Kia’s home in the picturesque Slovakian mountains? Kia’s newest addition to its fleet is the third generation Ceed. On first impressions, the new Kia Ceed is a sportier looking family style car and is a dream to drive, with some impressive features that are essential to feeling safe whilst on the ever-increasing busy roads.
It’s new technology features include Forward Collision – Avoidance Assist (FCA) which means the car will stop by itself before colliding with a stopped vehicle. Another smart feature is the Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) which helps to ensure you don’t drift lanes whilst driving. The clever car will notify you when you're drifting lanes so you know to keep your focus and return to your lane. This is perfect if your reaction times aren’t quite what they used to be and perfect if you’re often distracted by noisy grandchildren in the back!
The car also includes an 8” Colour Touchscreen Audio Display with CarPlay and Voice Control meaning the satellite navigation system is built in, perfect if you’re ever driving anywhere unfamiliar. The CarPlay and Voice Control make it easy to change the radio station or play your favourite tunes.
We also know how parking can be a nightmare if you regularly pick your grandchildren up from school. The Kia solves the parallel parking dilemma with its Smart Park Assist (SPA) system, which uses front, side and rear sensors to steer the car into a space for you. All you need to worry about is using the break, accelerator and gears. There is also a rear-view camera that displays itself on the touchscreen to easily guide you into a space.
Another important factor to look for in a car is comfort as there’s nothing worse than being uncomfortable for a whole journey! Although I found the seats were a little hard for the long journey into the Slovakian mountains, one aspect I did find great was how simple it was to control the temperature of the car. In the summer, the well-ventilated car can keep you cool and comfy whilst in the winter, the heated seats and steering wheel mean you won’t spend the whole journey trying to warm up!
Overall, the new Kia Ceed is a great family car. With all its latest safety features, you can drive with peace of mind whilst looking stylish.
