Ragdale Spa on review

We visited Ragdale Hall, a multi-award winning, privately owned, destination spa in the Leicestershire countryside. It features state-of-the-art facilities with the charm of traditional Victorian architecture to create one of the most luxurious and relaxing dedicated spas in the country.

Rating ★★★★★ (5/5)

A true gem hidden in the heart of the Leicestershire countryside, Ragdale Hall instantly impresses on approach with its traditional Victorian architecture and manicured gardens. This privately-owned dedicated spa hotel has both a friendly and luxurious feel.

We arrived just in time for lunch and weren’t disappointed! A three-course lunch was on offer, with a choice of hot starters from the menu or cold ones from the buffet. For our main course we could choose a full hot meal from the a la carte menu, including a roast dinner with all the trimmings, or you could choose from the varied salad bar for something lighter. For dessert an array of delish mini pudds were the order of the day.

Then it was time to test out the facilities, we relaxed and rejuvenated in the spa area, spending lots of time floating in the tranquil candle pool, sweating it out in the volcanic salt bath, getting warm in the rose sauna and then cooling down in the cave shower, which recreates the sensation of being caught in a storm! There’s both an indoor and outdoor pool area where you can enjoy the very powerful massing jets and waterfalls in the many bays and inlets carved into the outdoor pool.

Our place to while away the hours was the newly installed rooftop infinity pool. Not only can you enjoy the beautiful views of the gardens and surrounding countryside and the wildlife but you can lie back and enjoy the timed massage jets gently massage you as you float. It’s great to go up when it gets dark as you can star gaze at the same time.

Sadly, I was too busy relaxing to take part in any of the activities on offer but there was so much choice from yoga to aqua aerobics to dance classes! If you choose an overnight refresher all the classes are free to attend. You can even book your own personal trainer to work you out in the gym if you wish!

The rooms at Ragdale are spacious and bright and as a real treat everyone is served breakfast in bed. You choose from the menu the night before and select what time you want to eat and a three-course breakfast is delivered to your door!
