Over the party season, no doubt most of us will be indulging in our favourite foods until we’re at bursting point. Once you’ve gone mad for the cheese bored and eaten one too many pigs in blankets, you might still feel like enjoying a small sweet treat.

Luckily, everyones favourite puddings are the perfect chocolatey alternative to a slice of Christmas pudding or mince pie. There’s also some new flavours out just in time for Christmas. Our favourite of the selection has to be the Salted Caramel Cheesecake.

Often, anything with salted caramel can have a sickly overly sweet flavour but get this dessert just right. It’s very tasty and not too sweet nor too sickly - a great option if you fancy a sweet treat but not a huge pudding!

At first, I thought it was going to be a little too sweet for my tastebuds, as the smell once you open the foil lid is a little overpowering with sweetness, but the taste is far from overly sweet. As it’s a cheesecake, I expected the base to be quite dry and biscuit like. However, the base was more like a sticky toffee cake rather than crumbly biscuit which made for a nice surprise.

The salty flavour is not too overpowering either with the undertones being more like burnt caramel rather than overly salty, making it an even more perfect dessert for the festive period.

The limited edition pudding is available from Waitrose, Asda, Morrisons and Tesco (RRP £3).
