What our reviewer said:

“Our trip started off with staying in a caravan at the Beverley Park in Paignton, Devon. We found the staff to be friendly and welcoming, just what we needed after a long car journey down from Peterborough.

Once shown to our caravan we found it to be spacious and perfect for 4 people. It came with all the state of the art features, which was ideal for our teenage boys.

The site itself was within walking distance to all the local entertainment and leisure facilities, which had a range of activities that catered for all our needs.

This was our first trip to Devon, we found the view of the hilltop from the caravan site to be breathtaking. The area itself has such a natural beauty to it and one that draws you in to want to come back.

For the second half of our half-term week holiday we borrowed a 6-person Swift 696 Escape 2015 motorhome from Chief Rentals in Paignton. It was really spacious, well equipped and easy to drive.

The service from Chief Rentals was superb and the motorhome was immaculate on our handover.

I would say the motorhome is best used by established motorhome users. We found it a bit complicated to keep on top of water, gas, electric, and battery without running out! It did require constant monitoring of two adults necessary. There was a good size fridge and freezer for all our supplies. However we found the shower virtually impossible to wash in as it was so small, probably only for use in emergencies I’d say.

The accommodation in the motorhome was pretty cramped for more than 2 to 3 people. This surprised me considering it was meant to be for 6 people! I also found it a bit wobbly at night when one person turned over in their bunk, the whole motorhome seemed to move quite a bit. I’d say the motorhome experience was best for young families or older couples with no children.

We felt the static lodge at Beverly was superb, and was much better for 50 plus age group. It was quieter, easier and more spacious. But the key appeal of the motorhome is the ability to tour and move from place to place, which for many would offset any of the aparent downsides.”
