What they say...
The Sunny sandal from Cosyfeet has a contemporary look and incorporates a sole with hidden depth, so it’s flattering for swollen feet. The flexible, lightweight wedge sole and spongy insole provide wonderful underfoot comfort and are shock absorbing to walk on, which makes this sandal kind to your joints. A cushioned pad at the heel also provides support and protection against rubbing.
This eye-catching style comes in an EEEEE+ fitting as standard to fit extra-wide, swollen or mis-shapen feet. Three touch-fastening straps adjust to fit a range of widths and swelling: simply tighten or loosen them as you need to.
The Sunny sandal is made from beautifully soft, hand finished leathers and comes in a choice of Black Leather, Sand Leather or Tabasco Nubuck Leather. It is available in sizes 3 to 9 including half sizes. Strap extensions are also available for especially swollen feet.
What we say...
Finding comfortable shoes that fits a wider foot and looks pretty can be really hard – not least when you have very painful feet from bunions like I do. But I was really pleasantly surprised by the Cosyfeet Sunny sandal.
While the shoe comes in a range of brighter colours, I went for the black pair in a size 5 1/2 (very happy to see they did half sizes!) and they fit my feet really firmly and comfortably. They had a really broad fit that didn't pinch on my upper foot as some narrower shoes tend to. They were also a nice design that unlike some other special extra roomy shoes I've used before wasn't frumpy and could be worn stylishly with skirts and dresses.
The spongy insole was a lovely touch that made the shoes feel really springy, although I didn't find there was any particular benefit to having the cushioned heel pad at the back. The adjustable straps were brilliant as they had plenty of length to them to adjust to all foot widths and provided the right kind of support for my upper foot.
I loved wearing these around the house and for short journeys as they were really comfy. However, personally for me they weren't quite right for longer walks as I couldn't fit my special orthotic insole I need for my bunions inside the shoe because of the strapped backs. I found the longest I could walk in them was an hour and a half until my feet started to hurt. But if this wasn't an issue for you, they should be fine for all journeys.
The best thing about these shoes is the really soft, high quality leather they're made from which moulds to the feet and means blisters and rubbing are generally a thing of a past. And it's this leather that understandably warrants the higher price tag although it's good to know that there is an £11.50 discount on these shoes (making them £57.50) if you qualify for VAT relief due to a chronic medical condition.
