What they say…

Chimneys are designed to draw air up and out of a building. If you’ve got the central heating on and the fire isn’t lit, all your precious warm air will disappear up the flue within an hour. Worse still this escaping air needs to be replaced, so cold air is pulled in from under doors and round windows, creating the cold draughts we feel. Now you can stop chimney draughts and reduce chimney heat loss with a Chimney Sheep®!

The Chimney Sheep® is a thick layer of felted wool on a handle that plugs the gap just above the fireplace preventing warm air from escaping up the chimney and stopping cold air from coming down the chimney.

What our review thought…

If you have an open fire that isn’t regularly lit then it’s likely that heat from your home is escaping up the chimney and draughts and debris are coming down.

The Chimney Sheep is such a simple idea - using wool, which is a breathable and natural insulator, to temporarily block the chimney the makers claim it will save around £50 a year off your heating bills.

I’ve only had my chimney sheep in place for a short time but I can already feel there’s less of a draught and the wind noise is reduced.

The process of ordering is quite simple but you do need to measure your flue to ensure a good fit. This can be quite a messy affair (depending on how often your fire is used and how recently you’ve had it swept).

Once your Chimney Sheep arrives in the post you only have to attach the fire-retardant handle to push the Chimney Sheep into place. The handle stays in place so the Chimney Sheep can be easily removed and replaced whenever you want to light a fire.

Overall the Chimney Sheep is a simple to fit, practical solution to draughts and a sensible way to save on fuel bills.
