They say...

As a leader in new technology, the Vac & Steam combines a powerful cyclonic vacuum and a steam mop in one.
This innovative product is easy to use as a vacuum or steam mop on its own, or together for one simple clean action by separating dry debris from wet messes. The steam mop uses 99% chemical free steam to kill 99.9% of germs and bacteria* to ensure your floors are left hygienically clean and sparkling.

Our reviewer thought...

I have two grubby (but delightful) children, an even muckier dog and two cats, so as you can imagine my floors rarely stay clean for long. Most of my downstairs is laminate wood flooring, which is easy to clean. However, vacuuming, mopping and then waiting for it all to dry, does takes ages. I was more than a little excited by the idea of an all-in-one vacuum and steamer mop.

I tested the Bissell Vac and Steam. It took just seconds to assemble and came with the mop pad already fitted. Filling the tank was simple enough and it heats up in just 30 seconds. Once ready, you can choose to mop your floors on the Hi or Lo setting. Pushing the steam trigger starts the steam and then you’re ready to go. I used both settings on my floors and saw good results.

The biggest plus of this machine is that you can use it to vacuum, mop or do both at the same time. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it functions as a stand alone vacuum – it made light work of my laminate and even worked on carpet. I doubt it gives the deepest clean, particularly on my very thick pile lounge carpet, but it does a decent job and is perfect for a quick freshen up.

When combined with the mopping function I was really impressed. The suction is good and the mop quick and easy, so I was able to do all of my floors in half the time. Unlike other steam mops I’ve tried, it doesn’t leave the floors sopping wet either, so it’s better for your floors and dries quicker.

To remove the mop head, you simply step on the foot release and lift the unit off the tray. The microfiber pad slides off easily and is washable – you get two in a pack.  Also included are two fragrance discs that fit into a pocket on the inside of the microfiber pads. These are really fiddly to get into the pockets, but do leave my house smelling amazing. I also found refitting the mop pad tray a bit a fiddly, but not impossible.

I love this mop, but there was just one downfall. When slid along my skirting boards and kitchen plinths it left a black line. This wiped off easily and can be avoided by not getting to close to the edges, but it’s still disappointing. Having checked with the manufacturer and read lots of other reviews, this doesn’t seem to be a common issue. I haven’t found anyone else who’s had the same problem, so hopefully this is just a problem with my mop. Regardless of this, I still love it and it hasn’t stopped me ditching my old mop.
