What our tester thought:
When I was younger I had a ceramic oil burner that, with aid from a tealight candle, was able to make my bedroom smell like apple, lavender and a host of other scents. It wasn't without its drawbacks though - it would run dry and splutter crossly, and of course get extremely hot. But still, I've recently come to miss it as I'm not a fan of diffusers or room sprays - when it comes to scents, I like a pure essential oil.
So I was delighted to see that oil burners have come a long way since I last tried one. This smart, ceramic fragrancer is small and unobtrusive, looking like a small bowl or sculpture on my coffee table. It plugs into an electric socket, but cleverly only ever remains warm, not hot, so there's no risk of burning yourself or your furniture.
Essential oils aren't cheap, but it only takes two drops to fill the room with its soothing smell within minutes, and it lasts for a good few hours after the burner's off too. All you need to do is give it a quick wipe with a tissue to stop it from staining, so it's very low maintenance.
I really can't fault it, other than the slightly hefty price tag.
