It's the most wonderful time of the year, but which Christmas advert will tug on your heart strings or make you chuckle over the festive season? We've picked our favourites:

Thorntons

Thorntons has partnered with SSAFA this Christmas in jointly celebrating the service of men and women in the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, British Army and the Royal Air Forces and the support their families give them. Two percent of Thorntons continental boxed range sales will go to supporting the Armed Forces charity.

Heathrow Airport

It's a Wonderful Flight. The Heathrow bears are back in time for Christmas... The song is Petula Clarks' 1966 hit, "I couldn't live without your love" - watch out for Petula's cameo!

Aldi

Kevin the Carrot is back! And he's met someone special...

The sell-out plush Kevin The Carrot soft toy will also be returning joined by Katie the Carrot in stores from November 23 in support of Aldi's charity partner, Teenage Cancer Trust.

Amazon

Amazon boxes go on a journey to send a smile this Christmas, all while singing Roger Hodgson's theme 'Give a Little Bit'.

Argos

#ReadyForTakeOff is the first Christmas ad of the festive season. The elves race through the snow to ensure presents are delivered on time to Sabre Dance, a movement from Russian composer Aram Khachuturian's ballet Gayane. The ad promotes Argos's speedy delivery.

Asda

Step inside Asda's Christmas Imaginarium with a grandfather and his granddaughter to discover the magic behind everything the supermarket's created for the festivities. Think a Charlie and The Chocolate Factory and Lemony Snicket mash up set to Fleetwood Mac's 'Don't stop'.

Barbour

The story of The Snowman and The Snowdog continues with the next chapter in their story. Beautiful animation from Barbour.

Boots

The Boots ad follows two sisters growing up over five decades and features some of the store's iconic products that were there along the way, all set to Yazoo's fabulous 'Only You'.

Debenhams

Debenhams' ad takes inspiration from Charles Perrault's classic 1697 fairytale, Cinderella. It tells the tale of a young woman who loses her shoe on a crowded train and the handsome stranger who finds it. Will there be a happy ever after?

John Lewis

Moz the Monster lives under the bed! But he's an adorable monster who suffers from a touch of flatulence and befriends Joe. A lovely festive offering from John Lewis set to Elbow's cover of The Beatles' 'Golden Slumbers'.

Lidl

The discounter has not one but three adverts - a mince pie maverick, a double dipper and this one featuring the cavalier carver! Laugh along with Lidl!

M&S

Paddington Bear unwittingly saves Christmas in our favourite ad so far from Marks & Spencer... marmalade sandwich anyone?

Sainsbury's

The Sainsbury's Christmas advert squeezes every bit of Christmas into a wonderfully fun and festive song, sung by people all over Britain.

Tesco

Vegetarians beware! It's all about the turkey, from the basting to the sandwiches in this festive family gathering ad from Tesco. It features a lovely cover of Shakin' Stevens' 'Merry Christmas, everyone'.

Toys R Us

Geoffrey the replacement-reindeer giraffe is on hand to help Father Christmas complete his task! Fun, animated graphics from Toys R Us.

Very

Follow the story of a big-hearted girl and a white wolf from Very. Pixar-type animation.

Waitrose

A group of people get snowed in remote Tan Hill Inn in Yorkshire but luckily there's enough Waitrose goodies to make a Christmas feast. They have a great time, until the rescuers turn up! A black and white ad aiming to 'reconnect people with the emotions of Christmas' set to Carol of The Bells by Mykola Leontovych.
