Have you ever thought your pooch has star quality?
Well now could be Fido's big break as a new staging of John Steinbeck's classic, Of Mice and Men – a book many of us will remember reading at shcool – is on the hunt for a talented doggy actor.
The role has come up after the show's origial four-legged star, Badger, sadly passed away from old age shortly before rehearsals began, meaning producers are now looking out for a replacement. They're after a different older dog to play in each city on the tour which includes Edinburgh, Cardiff, Oxford and Leicester.
Most breeds and sizes of dog will be considered, but the star pooch should look relatively elderly and like a 'working dog', as well as being calm-mannered. The dog will be on stage for about five minutes in total, alongside Dudley Sutton, who plays ‘Candy’ and kept on a lead at all times. No previous doggy acting experience is needed.
The successful dog and owner will be required all evenings of the run and for any matinee performances.
