I mis-heard it through the grapevine

We’ve all been there. Happily belting out your favourite songs along with the radio, when your friend bursts into giggles and you realise you’ve been singing completely the wrong lyrics the whole time!
We asked you to tell us your favourite misheard lyrics – or to use their posher, proper name – modegreens, and you didn’t disappoint.
For Annie Smith it was Bonnie Tyler who got the better of her with It’s A Heartache, which she heard as: “It’s a hard egg.”
Theresa Moore, meanwhile, had her husband in stitches when he overheard her singing “bridge in disguise” along to the Bruce Springsteen classic, Brilliant Disguise.
Then there’s the Abba floor-filler we all seemingly learnt the words to from a young age, which is why Jenny Walters was surprised to learn the lyrics she sang – “see that girl, watch her scream, kicking the dancing queen” – weren’t exactly right.
Even the Lord’s Prayer isn’t sacred – Nola Lewis was tickled to hear her grandson solemnly reciting: “Our Father who is Arthur Evans,” before concluding: “in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Squirrel.”
