Julie says: Great idea! This simple ‘alphabet exercise’ helps with ankle mobility, which you need when walking on uneven ground and improves your circulation too.
‘Draw’ the letters of the alphabet in the air with your feet – you can do capitals or lower case, big or small movements. Alternate sides – you do ‘A’ with your right foot, ‘B’ with your left foot and so on. Give your arms a workout too by ‘drawing’ the letters with alternate hands.
When the adverts come on simply get up and down from your chair 10 times, this helps strengthen your legs and is one of the best all-round exercises anyone can do.
Try to sit upright without leaning back in the chair and lift your heels up and down slowly, you should feel it in your calf muscles and it’s great for circulation.
Remember your tummy muscles too, draw in your belly button towards your spine and hold for 5 seconds then relax. Repeat 10 times but remember not to hold your breath!
