Julie says: Exercising together is a great idea because you can encourage each other! It’s tough to lose weight from exercise alone, but increased activity levels equal more calories burned – so the first thing is
to keep active and not sit down for long periods.
Encourage your husband to come out for a 30-min walk with you a couple of times a week and perhaps go swimming once a week. Once you’re both enjoying that you could look into a class of some kind, such as line dancing or circuit training – group classes really keep you motivated.
Aim to exercise at moderate intensity. On a scale of 1 to ten (1 is sitting still, ten is running at full sprint) this would be between 4 and 6 so you can feel your heart and breathing rate increase and feel warmer – but not so you are totally out of breath.
