There are so many things we do on auto-pilot, and all too often we arrive home with only a vague recollection of the drive. That's probably why, despite the fact that we see them every day, millions of Brits have failed a basic quiz question about traffic lights.
The online quiz asked drivers which colour signal comes next after an amber light. More than one in ten wrongly answered green, while 13 per cent said both red and amber together.
What would you have said?
The answer, which less than three quarters of respondents got right, is a red light.
There were other questions that caused confusion too, with only half of drivers knowing that it isn't illegal to call 999 at the wheel of your car, and more than half not knowing cursing at another motorist could result in a whopping fine.
The quiz was created by Jardine Motors Group and was taken by 1,558 drivers (only 2 per cent got them all right!)
