There's not much that beats a cup of a tea and a scone, smothered in jam and cream, enjoyed in the garden on a sunny day.
But now there's a way you can enjoy your cream tea even more, in the knowledge that your little slice of cream tea loveliness is going towards helping poorly children.
Action Medical Research, a UK-wide children's charity, has launched its annual #CreamTeas campaign where you can purchase a cream tea in a box that will be delivered to your door. Each box costs £6 and all that money will go towards funding medical breakthroughs that can save the lives of sick children.
Inside your cream tea box you'll find all the essentials of a great afternoon treat with two plain scones, a jar of Rodda's Cornish clotted cream, two jars of Tiptree strawberry conserve, Yorkshire tea and a knife and serviette. There is a minimum order of ten boxes of cream tea so why not invite your neighbours round for a cream tea party or organise an afternoon tea picnic for your extended family?
ast year Action Medical Research delivered more than 6,000 boxes and raised nearly £55,000 and this year they're really hoping to beat that target.
Action Medical Research have been funding medical breakthroughs since 1952 including helping to introduce the first polio vaccines in the UK and developing the use of ultrasound in pregnancy. At the moment, the charity is funding research into conditions including asthma, prematurity, epilepsy, meningitis, cerebral palsy, brain cancer and some rare conditions that affect children.
To join the fight to help save little lives, order your cream tea by June 12 at creamteas.action.org.uk
